Who we are
Student Leaders

Talofa lava,
My name is Denise Pio, and I come from the island of Samoa. I’ve lived in New Zealand for eight years, and I’m now in my final year of high school. I’m thrilled to be the Head Prefect for Rangitīkei College in 2025! It’s such an honour, and I’m really looking forward to all the amazing things this year will bring.
I remember being a Year 9 student, feeling a bit lost in this big new space, and looking up to the Year 13s and Head Prefects who seemed so confident and inspiring. That’s exactly the kind of leader I want to be—someone who helps others feel welcome, seen, and comfortable, especially in those moments when everything feels overwhelming.
I want to be approachable so students feel they can come to me for a chat or if they need a hand, but I also want to stand strong and confident when it comes to doing what’s right and addressing what’s not.
A little about me: I have five siblings, and I’m super passionate about the creative arts! I’ve been involved in Pasifika Fusion every year since I started high school, and I love taking part in music and cultural events. I dream of working in the film industry or studying entrepreneurship one day.
As Head Prefect, I’m ready to bring positivity, embrace challenges, and make the most of this incredible opportunity to learn, grow, and support others along the way.
Here’s to an awesome year ahead!

My name is Bronson Keanu Belk, and I feel incredibly privileged to be part of—and lead—the amazing group of Year 13s in our prefect team this year. Becoming Head Prefect at our kura has always been a goal of mine, so it’s a huge honour to take on this responsibility for 2025.
When I started at Rangitīkei College as a Year 9 student, I looked up to the Year 13 leaders. They helped me find my classes and never hesitated to offer a handshake. Now that I’m one of those Year 13s, I want to be just as present and approachable, making sure new students feel comfortable enough to say hey or ask me anything.
I have two older brothers and have lived in Marton my whole life. I’m the captain of the hockey team and a member of the school band. I have a strong passion for both performing arts and sport, and this school has given me so many opportunities to showcase that.
One of the best things about Rangitīkei College is that being a small school allows students to form strong relationships with teachers and peers. I’ve found that having someone there to support you makes a huge difference, and I want to be that person for any student who needs a helping hand.
We have a strong team of prefects this year, and we’re all excited for the year ahead. Don’t be shy—say hi or ask any questions! Denise and I, along with the rest of the prefect team, are always happy to help.
Ngā mihi nui.
